In this third "Twenty by Sixteen Biennial," the visual adventure continues. With only the one constraint - size- each of the 35 artists in the show is free to invent, explore, befuddle, dazzle, bemuse, challenge, celebrate.

Represented by two works each, artists get a chance to show what they do best twice: with imagery, touch, color, figuration, abstraction, hybridity, absurdity, profundity, or none of the above. If no two artists look alike, it is because no two artists ARE alike. What is particular to one is foreign to another; what is anathema to one is central to another. What the artists in this Biennial share is integrity. And at the helm of each practice is sincerity, integrity's first cousin.

Thus do the works in this show bop, amble, strut, juxtapose, cruise, clash, propose and cuddle...for all they're worth.   Pick your favorite. Question its presence. Revel in pictorial uniqueness. Consider the language each work speaks.

Consider the dialects, the slang, the asides, never forgetting that each work bears the stamp of its maker. Not "Made in America." Rather, made by a human, for the craziest reasons: necessity and joy.

On Long Island Doug Reina Classes offered.

Saturday Art Classes at Doug Reina Art Studio starting in March

For all of you who have been interested in taking art classes here, but can't make it to the on-going Thursday class, this is for you. Classes will be held on 3/2, 3/9, 3/23 and 3/30

Classes here at the studio are structured to suit the individual needs of each student, with an emphasis on developing their own unique, creative approach to painting.

Beginners to experienced painters are welcome.

The Saturday class gives the student the choice to work in either a three hour session, or if they wish to continue working, they can stay for an additional two hours and complete a 5 hour session.

For those of you who would like to try oil painting, but don't have any any paint, I am offering, for an additional fee, an option where I provide an easel and paint.

Pricing

3 hour class is $60 - if a student needs to use my supplies, it's $75
5 hour class is $80 - if a student needs to use my supplies, it's $90

The space in my studio is limited - I can accommodate up to 6 students.
If you'd like to reserve a space in a class, email me the date you'd like to attend. My email is art@dougreina.com

There is also some room in my Thursday class if you're interested in that. Please note, I do not offer a 5 hour session for that class.

If you would like to take a class but can't make these times, let me know if there's another time that works better for you. I am even open to the idea of doing some one on one sessions.

Thank you everybody. Hope to hear from some of you soon.
- Doug
