Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. ~ Anatole France  WHO | AFA and Sloan Fine Art present an exhibition comprised of artwork from over 50 artists. Pia Salk, Adopt-a-Pet.com spokesperson and animal welfare expert will host a live auction.  WHAT | "Awakened," a special ten-day art exhibition and fundraising event inspired by, and benefitting, the pet companions that brighten all of our lives. Curator Alix Sloan has challenged over fifty artists to create works inspired by the powerful impact of animals in our lives and homes. Nothing sound in it and nothing true Ira Eduardovna and Heeseop Yoon | September 6 - 29 Opening reception September 6, 6 - 8 PM ArtGate Gallery is pleased to present NOTHING SOUND IN IT AND NOTHING TRUE, a two person show featuring Ira Eduardovna and Heeseop Yoon. Eduardovna and Yoon examine changes in perception and memory through their video and drawing installations. The show will run from September 6 through September 29. The opening reception will be held on Thursday, September 6 from 6-8 PM. Ira Eduardovna was born in the USSR and immigrated to Israel at age ten. Born under a failing communist regime and escaping to yet another conflict-ridden region, her childhood was full of turmoil. Eduardovna, who is now based in New York, recreates and deconstructs her childhood memories in her autobiographical videos which often star herself and her family. Her movies feature repetitive motions and shifting perspectives, often lacking a sense of closure. Her videos are vague: both the viewer and the subjects remain unidentified, the actions are unexplained, creating a sense of mystery and leaving things open for interpretation. Heeseop Yoon’s process begins with a photograph of a cluttered interior. She then constructs a view from her photographs and draws her subject matter freehand, using narrow black masking tape as her main tool. Rather than correcting any mistakes, she simply creates new lines that overlap with the errors. The multiple lines reflect how Yoon’s perception changes over time. The result is a large scale clutter of lines that intersect and cross over at random spots yet join together to create a paradoxically realistic chaos. While the events of our past never change, our memories are being constantly altered with the passage of time.  New experiences provide a new lens to look back on the past, creating multiple realities out of a fixed point in time. Ira Eduardovna and Heeseop Yoon record their personal changes with their boundary-pushing installations depicting something that once was as how they see it now. Andy Warhol, Blue Jackie, 1964 Please join us to celebrate Waterhouse & Dodd's 25th anniversary and view our inaugural exhibition on Madison Avenue: 'Post-War & Contemporary Art in America'. On exhibit will be important paintings, sculpture and works on paper from the 1960s to the present by leading American artists, including Alexander Calder, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Allan D'Arcangelo, Jim Dine, Robert Indiana, Andy Warhol and Tom Wesselmann. The highlight of the show is one of Andy Warhol's most notable portraits, 'Blue Jackie' executed in 1964 at the height of his most celebrated period. This painting belongs to the iconic 'Jackie' silkscreen series and combines Warhol's ground-breaking 'Death and Disaster series' with his contemporaneous fascination with celebrity culture. 'Blue Jackie' is a stellar representation of Warhol's significant and unparalleled contribution to the visual arts. “THE POST-MODERN SERIES, FINDING BALANCE AND STRENGTH DURING TIMES OF CHALLENGE” BY “The Post-Modern Series, Finding Balance and Strength During Times of Challenge” by Martin Eichinger at the Mary Martin Gallery, 103 Broad Street. Eichinger will be unveiling his newest bronze sculpture series, “Post Modern”, during this the featured show for the month of October. Compared to the great renaissance sculpture Donatello, Martin Eichingerhas been internationally recognized for his romantic classical bronze sculptures.  For more than twenty years, this dynamic, visionary artist has produced limited-edition sculptures that engage the minds and hearts of art lovers and collectors.Grouped into themed series—Dream, Circus, Exotic Women, Goddess, Duet, Passage, Dance, Mythic Man, Ideoforms, and Meditation—Eichinger sculptures chronicle the eternal human pursuit of meaning, happiness, and growth.The “Post-Modern” series invites a conversation for the viewer to contemplate. Each figure is delicately balanced on a post that represents a new way of approaching an idea.According to Eichinger: “To summarize the significance of the Post-Modern series: The tides are shifting for humanity and we are in the process of discovering a new perspective and perhaps a new dance.”“Open, balancing freely in flight, grounding and stable on one hand while the other hand is unburdened. His actions showing that anything is possible” is how Eichinger describes “On the Other Hand”, (35 h x 15 w x 11 d, Edition 75).Eichinger sculptures are also known for their unique patina. Eichinger designed a new silver style patina specifically for the “Post Modern” series by to express and reflect the cool toned contemporary nature of the sculptures and to create an “edgy” effect, symbolizing the concept of Post-modern. Martin Eichinger’s narrative, romantic sculptures grace numerous private and corporate collections around the world. Working in his 6,000-square-foot studio, with its 16-foot-high-ceilings, Eichinger creates dramatic bronzes that range in scale from intimate to monumental.  Important large-scale, public, and commissioned works include Windlord, a 16-foot cast-bronze sculpture commissioned by the City of Lansing, Michigan; a high-relief plaque for the Christopher Columbus Quincentennial Celebration; a plaque and bust commemorating President Ronald Reagan; and Ski Trooper, a sculpture commissioned in honor of the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Army’s Tenth Mountain Division. Eichinger has won numerous awards and honors, including First Place in the International ARC Salon, the C. Percival Dietsch Prize for Best Sculpture in the Round, Kellogg Internship, and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.  In 1993, at the invitation of His Serene Highness, Prince Rainier III of Monaco, he exhibited his Circus series at the Festival International du Cirque de Monte-Carlo.
