Tween Artist Mikail Akar Changes Face of the Art World

Tween Artist Mikail Akar Changes Face of the Art World with Unprecedented Vision at Young Age
Artist Mikail Akar (Photo Credit: MA Photography)
The 10-year-old creator is making a lasting impression
on the world with abstract paintings

Young artist Mikail Akar is making waves in the art world at the tender age of just 10 years old. The tween creator already is a bona fide painter with works found worldwide and showcasing in numerous exhibitions around the globe. His colorful work appeals to lovers of contemporary art as the prodigy draws his inspiration from historical figures including Jackson Pollock, Jean-Michel Baskiat and Gerhard Richter.

Mikail's paintings are collected internationally among art collectors and celebrities alike. Already making a huge mark on the international press circuit he has appeared on Fox News, BBC News, Yahoo, and the pages of the “New York Post.”

Born in 2012 in Cologne, his career began relatively carefree. For his fourth birthday his parents gave him a small canvas and finger paints simply because they didn't want to buy Legos or toy cars again. Mikail began his prolific artistic journey at this exact moment.

His talents were seen in a first painting and his parents fully encouraged him to continue his work. Watching YouTube videos together with Mikail he learned certain painting techniques and soon the little artist soon began to paint nonstop. His introduction into the art world launched shortly after with adult artists wanting to preview his work more and more.

His father Kerem expresses, "You have to be behind the kids instead of in front of them."Mikail had his first exhibition at the age of four in August 2017 in the SBK in Cologne Longerich. At the age of five, he exhibited his paintings in the gallery Kunstbruder in Cologne. The third exhibition was then in September 2018 at the Galleria Palatina in Großkarlbach. The next stop was October 2018 at the Art Haus in Düsseldorf.”

Further exhibitions followed in Hamburg and Jüchen. Later, his works were on display at the Landtag NRW and Bankhaus August Lenz in Berlin. As a visual artist, he does not want to limit himself to canvases, he recently painted a wreckage part of the Airbus 310. This wreckage part is 150 cm wide and 190 cm long (approximately 5’ by 7’). It has already been exhibited in Cologne/Bonn Airport and will be shown in other international airports in the future.

In 2020, during the lockdown, when all events were cancelled and postponed, Mikail launched his virtual exhibition "My World is Colorful" to create an opportunity for art enthusiasts to admire his artworks from afar.

Mikail had already created several exhibitions in Germany, international art collectors soon became aware of the little artist. This led to further exhibitions in Vienna, Istanbul, and New York City. Mikail has his own studio in Cologne where he regularly paints.

The young artist also has a philanthropic side and has gained notable attention with his work being auctioned for good causes such as the “Art Helps to Give” campaign. He has also painted numerous times together with German celebrities such as the Höhnern, Laith Al-Deen, Manuel Neuer or Peter Mafay. Additionally, the painter has also launched charity events in Turkey to help local people during the earthquake in 2020.

Despite his exciting life, Mikail has remained a normal child in everything, he goes to school in Cologne and is fully supported by his parents and two siblings.

Ocean Flow

“Ocean Flow” 24″ x 60″ oil/canvas by Casey Chalem Anderson

I couldn’t wait a moment longer. When the newly finished wood floors were dry, I removed my shoes at the door and entered in socks only. In a glance, I devoured the entire living room; the place looked fantastic. It was spare, open, soft, and gentle, exactly how I had envisioned it. But when I looked over at the space above the fireplace, I knew what was missing. I had to create the perfect painting for the room, and it had to be a five-foot-wide ocean wave.

I think art sets the tone in a room. It’s a focal point and one of the most vital elements to create the desired mood in a space. A painting gives heart and warmth to a room. It is the ultimate accessory. When a painting of the glorious color of a breaking wave vibrates and the shimmering foam seems to vanish into the sand, the meditative perception of the ocean is recreated right in your living room.
