Karyn Mannix: 10th ANNUAL BIRDHOUSE AUCTION benefiting Lucia’s Angels
10th ANNUAL
BIRDHOUSE AUCTION
benefiting Lucia’s
Angels
SOUTHAMPTON,
N.Y.—The 10th Annual Artist Bird House Auction : Bye
Bye Birdie. benefiting the Lucia’s Angels. The auction
is scheduled for Saturday, October 18, 5:30 to
8 p.m., at the Southampton Social Club, located at 256 Elm Street in Southampton (near
the train station.)
The
birdhouse auction, which has become one of the major fund-raising events of the
Lucia’s Angels, began ten ago as the brainstorm of East End artist and breast
cancer survivor Karyn Mannix. The auction continues to help women and families
in need. After
ten years of auctioning birdhouses, it was time for a change. This will be the final birdhouse auction.
The annual event will continue next year
with a different theme.
This
year, 100 artists have donated their
talents and creativity to help design a one of a kind birdhouse, which will be
auctioned off to raise money for the various cancer support programs.
Lucia’s
angels was created in loving memory of Lucia Terzi Bagan. Lucia was a very
giving person- not only of the material sense but also of herself and her
heart. It's no wonder she had so many friends and family surrounding her in her
final days. It was Lucia's wish that other women and their families could have
that same kind of love and support through their toughest times.
Lucia’s
Angels has provided help and funding for: babysitting, heating bills, health
insurance premiums, automobile repair, groceries, ambulatory trips, therapeutic
massage, salon services and wigs. From special wishes like one more trip to the
beach, to providing extra child-care, to the holding of a hand, Lucia's spirit
and Angels will be there.
Once again, we
will be accepting absentee bids. Visit http://karynmannixcontemporary.com/gallery/karyn-mannix-contemporary/10th-annual-birdhouse-auction/ to view the birdhouses. By emailing karynmannix@optonline.net, or phoning 516 318 0000, you can place your
maximum absentee bid and volunteers will be on hand at the event to do the
bidding for you.
Tickets are $50/$60 at

In the vein of crime classics like MEAN STREETS and INFERNAL AFFAIRS, REVENGE OF THE GREEN DRAGONS follows two immigrant brothers Sonny (Justin Chon) and Steven (Kevin Wu) who survive the impoverished despair of New York in the 1980s by joining Chinatown gang "The Green Dragons". The brothers quickly rise up the ranks, drawing the unwanted attention of hard-boiled city cops. After an ill- fated love affair pits Sonny against his own brother, he sets out for revenge on the very gang who made him who he is. From acclaimed Director Andrew Lau and Andrew Loo, and legendary Executive Producer Martin Scorsese comes a brilliant mix between a Hong Kong action film and a New York City crime thriller, portraying the never-before-told true story of "The Green Dragons".
REVENGE OF THE GREEN DRAGONS stars Justin Chon (TWILIGHT), Kevin Wu, Harry Shum, Jr. (GLEE and seen in the upcoming CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON II: THE GREEN DESTINY), Shuya Chang (CHINESE PUZZLE), Jin Auyeung (THE MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS), Eugenia Yuan (MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA) with Geoff Pierson (J. EDGAR), Billy Magnussen (seen in the upcoming INTO THE WOODS) and Ray Liotta, reuniting him with Martin Scorsese for the first time in nearly 25 years since GOODFELLAS.
The film also reunites Lau with Martin Scorsese, who came on-board as an Executive Producer on the film. Scorsese previously won an Academy Award © for THE DEPARTED, a remake of Lau’s INFERNAL AFFAIRS.
