Mana Contemporary Exhibits Nyugen Smith's at the Art Fair C14, November 10-13, 2022

Bundlehouse FS Mini No. 9 Sunset | Courtesy of the Artist

Mana Contemporary, in association with Sean Horton (Presents), is pleased to feature sculpted and wall mounted works by Jersey City artist, Nyugen E. Smith at New Jersey’s largest visual arts event, Art Fair 14C. The Fair will run from November 10-13, 2022, at the historic Armory located at 678 Montgomery Street, Jersey City, New Jersey.

Nyugen E. Smith is a first-generation Caribbean-American interdisciplinary artist based in Jersey City, NJ where he maintains a studio at Mana Contemporary. Through found object sculpture, mixed media drawing, performance, photography, sound, video, and writing, Nyugen deepens his knowledge of historical and present-day conditions of Black African descendants in the diaspora.

Nyugen launched his prolific series Bundlehouse in 2005 consisting of mixed media, assemblage and sculptural works and is centered around forced migration.  The New York Times’s art review by Siddhartha Mitter and Will Heinrich, on September 8, 2022, lists Sean Horton (Presents) (Platform #7) one-person show, Nyugen E. Smith, as one of the favorite booths at this year's Armory Show. Smith will be showcasing (Bundlehouse: Here and Now) at Art Fair 14C in Booth C26.
