Brooke USA Extends Relief Efforts to Support Horses Devastated by Hurricane Maria

Brooke USA Extends Relief Efforts to Support Horses Devastated by Hurricane Maria
Lexington, Ky. – Sept. 29, 2017 – After Hurricane Harvey and Irma, Brooke USA was grateful to reach their fundraising goal of $35,000 as a match for donations to the USEF Equine Disaster Relief Fund. However, after the unprecedented devastation in Puerto Rico, they turned their attention to help the victims of Maria, with another on-going fundraising campaign. The goal of the campaign is to help rescue, protect and care for the equine victims by providing much-need funds for welfare organizations.

“Although Brooke USA’s efforts typically target equines in developing countries, we were deeply compelled to help support the rescue of equines in Houston, Texas, and the surrounding areas in light of the destructive flooding of Hurricane Harvey,” Executive Director of Brooke USA, Emily Dulin said. “Given the recent destruction caused by the hurricanes in Florida, the US Virgin Islands, and now Puerto Rico, we at Brooke USA felt it was very pivotal to send much needed support to those regions as well."
Though the initial effects of the Hurricane Maria have passed, there are still many equines needing assistance in the weeks following the storm. There is an urgent need for hay and feed, potable water, vet supplies, veterinary care, fencing and portable stalls. Many are concerned that equines with lacerations and puncture wounds from flying objects or from the horses running into debris are without proper medicine and clean water is scarce.

All of the donations given to Brooke USA under this campaign will be used to benefit Maria’s equine victims through the USEF Equine Disaster Relief Fund.

Tax-deductible donations can be made at www.BrookeUSA.org/disaster for Maria’s equine victims. 100% of the donations will go to assist the animals.

Sara Cwynar is the recipient of the 18th Baloise Art Prize. In a manner as entertaining as it is complex, her work Soft Film (2016) explores fundamental aspects of photography, its production and its dissemination in digital and analogue systems. The film features other people's discarded objects, purchased by the artist on eBay, as well as photographs she has acquired in a second-hand shop, all of which she collects, organizes and archives according to colour, material and content. The work also addresses topics of relevance to society, for example the circulation and value of objects or feminist themes, as well as the meaning of personal and historical occurrences.

For more information about the exhibition please visit MMK 1 Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt am Main.

Life is Very Funny!!! Long Ago and Far away I attended the Red Cross Ball hosted by Prince Albert 11 of Monaco in Monte-Carlo at the invitation of Nall Hollis.

looking out over Monte Carlo

As it would happen, today back to back I  posted below releases from Nall Hollis to announce the opening of the Nall museum on Oct 7th. and Prince Albert of Monaco's environmental for sustainability Gala and auction, the 28th by Purdy auctions.  Pics below show some of the events during that trip I made to Nall's art events and the Red Cross Ball. I am the brunette of twenty years ago. Other than the fabulous Nall himself and photographer par excellence Chip Cooper forgive me I don't recall the names of my traveling buddies.

The is a reason to a-lite the aforementioned is Prince Albert has lent his considerable weight and those of celebrities to advance environmental causes. The inaugural "Monte Carlo Gala for the Global Ocean" will honor Leonardo DiCaprio for his outstanding actions for the preservation of our Planet. Uma Thurman, Goldie Hawn, Andy Garcia, Kevin Spacey, Eva Longoria, Madonna, Joe Pesci, Martin Scorsese, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tobey Maguire, Enric Sala and Terry Tamminen are the Event Chairs, confirming their commitment to this important cause.

The coincident shared this post to highlight my own involvement in championing environmental issues. See the link to " Artists for Peace and the Environment" hosted by Michael Lang at Woodstock '99.
