Call for Submissions
The City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs is now accepting artwork submissions for consideration for the 2016 MOJA Arts Festival's Juried Art Exhibition.

The MOJA Arts Festival is an 11-day multi-disciplinary celebration of African-American and Caribbean culture produced by the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the MOJA Planning Committee. MOJA's wide range of events include visual arts, dance, gospel, jazz, poetry, R&B, classical music, storytelling, theatre, children's activities, traditional crafts, ethnic food, and more.

This year's festival is September 29 - October 9, 2016. The 2016 MOJA Arts Festival Juried Art Exhibition will be held at the Avery Research Center's McKinley Washington Auditorium. This year's juror is Greg Jenkins who serves as the Operations Manager and Chief Preparator at the Gibbes Museum of Art, having worked with the Gibbes since 1983. A native of Charleston and a graduate of Chicora High School, Mr. Jenkins has a lifelong interest in art. He was the 1986 MOJA Arts Festival poster artist and is a member of the MOJA Arts Festival Planning Committee. Cash awards will be made at the jurors's discretion.
Artists exhibiting in past years have included Herman Keith, Steve Hazard, Hampton R. Olfus, Robert B. Reed, Georgette W. Sanders, Patricia E. Sabree, Katherine Houghton, JahSun, Dorothy Montgomery, and many other local talents.
