The artists exhibiting in "TROPHY ART" are counter points to current trends in which sales and media hype have taken an increasingly larger role in the art world, artists, and how art is valued. The artists exhibiting in "TROPHY ART" instead focus on showcasing one artwork that exemplifies their dedication and devotion to their work. There will be 20 large works in total, ranging from painting, drawing to sculpture. This presentation will pay tribute to the effort, passion and talent entailed in creating a work of art and respecting the detailed processes along the way.
"TROPHY ART" focuses on artists who are pioneers, skilled practitioners, insightful storytellers, overlooked talents, outspoken critics or standout tastemakers. Each work is valued on skill, impact and a passion for their pursuit to make a bold and pervasive statement. The collection is powerful, impressive and resonates with the core aesthetics of the true process of invention and creation.

Last Years Hampton Hampton International Horse Show

Large
Bridgehampton, NY - June 10, 2015 - The Hampton Classic Horse Show will host the $10,000 Sam Edelman Equitation Championship in the Classic's famed Grand Prix Ring on Saturday, August 29. In recent years, the Championship was held on Thursday, and this year's move to Saturday will put the nation's leading equitation riders on center stage in front of a large weekend crowd.
"The Sam Edelman Equitation Championship has always been a special class," said Shanette Barth Cohen, Executive Director of the Hampton Classic. "We feel that it deserves a prominent place on our schedule and we believe that this move to Saturday will be well received all
around."
The Sam Edelman Equitation Championship's format requires riders to negotiate two rounds, over two different jumper courses, in the Classic's sprawling Grand Prix Ring. The order of go in the second round is in inverse order of standing after Round One. Riders are judged subjectively as they compete over courses of 12-14 jumps.
"This class is different from all the other equitation championships because of the two rounds and the big ring," said Michael Hughes who won the championship last year. "To have won the class means an awful lot to me."
In addition to moving the Sam Edelman Equitation Championship to Saturday, the Classic has instituted some other changes for this year, including:

Grand Prix Order of Go
The start order for the $250,000 Hampton Classic Grand Prix CSI4* on Sunday will be in inverse order of final placings in Friday's $50,000 Douglas Elliman Grand Prix Qualifier CSI4* Presented by LONGINES. Both these FEI Grand Prix classes, as well as the $40,000 LONGINES Cup on Saturday, award bonus points in determining the winner of the $30,000 LONGINES Rider Challenge which awards $30,000 and a LONGINES timepiece to the rider accumulating the most points in the Open Jumper Division throughout the week.

Young Jumper Championships
All rounds of the 5- and 6-year-old divisions of the Young Jumper Championships, including the Finals, will be held in Jumper Ring 2. Previously the Finals for these divisions, as well as for the 7-year-old division, were held in the Grand Prix Ring, something that will continue for the 7-year-olds. "We got feedback that the change from Jumper Ring 2 to our big Grand Prix Ring might have been too much for some of the younger horses and that it was probably in these horses' best interest to keep them in the less imposing conditions of Jumper Ring 2," Cohen explained. "The consensus was that the 7-year-olds have enough maturity and would benefit from exposure to the Grand Prix Ring. With the change to the 5- and 6-year-old divisions' schedules we were able to arrange for the second and third rounds of the 7-year-old YJC Championship to take place in the Grand Prix Ring, rather than just the final round."
Citarella Corner
Citarella, the ultimate gourmet food market, has been a sponsor of the Hampton Classic since 2002, and is now sponsoring the new "Citarella Corner" in the international stabling area. Citarella will provide breakfast and lunch to all exhibitors, owners, trainers and grooms who have FEI access, Thursday August 27 through Sunday, August 30.

Equis Contest - Dress To Impress
Equis, a boutique for the discerning equestrian, is proud to sponsor the "Best Turned Out Horse" and "Best Turned Out Presenter" awards during the FEI jog on Thursday, August 27. A representative from Equis, along with Hampton Classic officials, will determine the recipients of these two awards. Equis will provide a prize to each winner.
Exhibitor Party
The Classic will now host their fun-filled Exhibitor's Party on Wednesday, August 26 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the USET Tent. All riders, owners, trainers, grooms, sponsors, and staff are invited for complimentary food, beverages and music. JustWorld International will also host a "Horseless Horse Show" benefit event during the party. It promises to be a wonderful evening!
The Hampton Classic, the prestigious culminating event of the famed Hamptons' summer season on Long Island, returns to Bridgehampton, NY, August 23-30, for its 40th year of world-class equestrian competition.
Many of the world's top jumper and hunter riders come from across the country and beyond to compete for their share of some of the richest prize money in the nation.
The Hampton Classic features six show rings, a Boutique Garden with more than 70 vendors, and a wide selection of dining options and a Farmer's Market, all on its 60-acre show grounds. With its top competition and pristine setting, The Hampton Classic is not just a place to see, it's also a place to be seen. Just in the last two years, A-list celebrities such as Jerry Seinfeld, Jennifer Lopez, Billy Joel, Jon Bon Jovi, Matt Lauer, Kelly Ripa, Julianne Moore, Sofia Vergara and Mary-Kate Olsen have been spotted enjoying the competition from the sidelines.
The Hampton Classic hosts more than 100 classes of competition for horses and riders of all ages and abilities. A wide range of hunter, jumper and equitation classes are offered from leadline classes all the way up to the grand prix level. The Classic also has classes for riders with disabilities. The Classic culminates on Sunday, August 30, "Grand Prix Sunday," with an impressive schedule of classes including three finals - the $30,000 7-Year-Old Young Jumper Championship Finals, the $25,000 Campbell Stables Show Jumping Derby, and the $250,000 Hampton Classic Grand Prix - in the Grand Prix Ring, as well as the $10,000 Hermès Hunter Classic in the Anne Aspinall Ring.
For those who can't make it to the show grounds, a complimentary live webcast of all Grand Prix ring classes will air on the Hampton Classic website, produced by ShowNet and courtesy of LONGINES, the official timekeeper of the Hampton Classic. In addition, WVVH-TV, the official Long Island television station of the Hampton Classic, broadcasts up to five hours of competition and highlights each day during the Classic. These broadcasts can also be seen on line atwww.wvvh.tv. Most of the Classic's other classes will also be available on ShowNet.biz.

Archimedes’ Bathtub takes its name from the over 2000 year old tale in which the storied Greek scientist discovered the answer to a question regarding the purity of a King’s crown by observing the rising of water as he settled into his bathtub; realizing that the phenomenon of aquatic displacement was a metric for determining the volume, then density, and subsequent purity of the State’s embodiment, Archimedes ran naked and jubilant through the streets shouting “Eureka!” This is often presented as a narrative of singular genius in service to mathematics (or a sovereign), however, it can also be seen as a metaphysical parable in which an individual can better observe the volume of their being in the displacement of that which surrounds them.

By using the more novel assessment of volumetric displacement as a metaphorical guidepost, this expansive exhibition brings together the work of 22 foreign born artists, all participants in the 2014 edition of the NYFA’s Immigrant Artist Mentoring Program. Ranging in mediums, the politics of space and body eke themselves through sculpture and drawing, through videos, installations, photographs, paintings, and performances. These varied works vividly assert themselves as comments on the textured shape and fragility inherent to societal notions of reality, while simultaneously reflecting the idiosyncrasies of the commenter’s own filtered view as strangers in a strange land. Indeed, the artworks then, are the observed effect of our own displacement wading through the muddy waters of culture.

BERTRAND DELACROIX GALLERY RUSSELL YOUNG: FAME/SHAME SEPTEMBER 8 -28, 2015

BERTRAND DELACROIX GALLERY

RUSSELL YOUNG: FAME/SHAME

SEPTEMBER 8 -28, 2015

Above: Elizabeth Taylor, Silkscreen Diamond Dust, 36" x 28" | Frank Sinatra Mug Shot, Silksreen on canvas, 63½" x 48½" | Marilyn Monroe Goddess, Silkscreen Diamond Dust, 33½" x 26"

BERTRAND DELACROIX GALLERY is thrilled to announce FAME/SHAME, a one-time special collaboration between the gallery and famed British artist RUSSELL YOUNG. The artist is internationally renowned for his colorful enamel screen-print paintings of celebrities, often coated in shimmering diamond dust. In Anna Wilding’s documentary on the artist, he states, “my art is best described as fame and shame”; this is exemplified in this exhibition’s mix of glamorous celebrity photos and mug shots.

Young’s signature technique combines painting and photography to produce a unique effect. He sources the photographs from newspaper cuttings, auctions, celebrities themselves and even police departments. Afterwards, he is intimately involved in every step of the screen-printing process. In fact, he is known for his sensational silk-screen performances, where he often signs his work with his own blood. In 2007, he started to incorporate diamond dust into his work, a process, which not only distinguishes his work but also makes each piece unique as the crystals are individually applied. The final results are bold and provocative representations of American media. The iconic pop portraits capture the glamour, pain and anguish that come with being in the public eye. They do not seek to simply idealize the famous but to question the culture of fame and its effect on both those who attain it and those who worship it.

Born in York, England in 1959, Young studied photography, film and graphic design at the Chester Art College and then attended Exeter Art College. Afterwards, he moved to London and gained recognition photographing R.E.M., the Smiths, Morrissey, Bjork, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Diana Ross and Paul Newman during the late 1970’s. Afterwards, the artist transitioned into the music industry, where he directed over 100 major music videos for MTV during the 1990s. In September 2000, while living in New York City, Young started to focus on his passion for art and painting. It was at this time that he first collaborated with BDG founder Bertrand Delacroix and master printer Luther Davis, of Axelle Editions in Brooklyn, New York – a sister company to BDG.  He began to create the enamel screen-print paintings on linen of celebrities. Davis is now one of only a handful of printers that Young works with on his art and the artist remained close friends with Bertrand Delacroix until Delacroix's passing in 2015. This exclusive 3-week collaboration celebrates this long-standing partnership.

Young has established himself as one of the most collected artists of our time; his work has been shown in London, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo, Singapore, New York, Detroit, Miami and Los Angeles and is in the private collections of President Barack Obama, David Bowie, David Hockney, Marc Jacobs as well as in the Saatchi Gallery in London, the Polk Museum in Florida and the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. His works have sold at auction in the US and UK through Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Phillips de Pury. The artist currently resides in California. He will attend the opening reception on September 17.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Opening Reception: Thursday September 1st, 6pm-8pm

Hell’s Kitchen NYC- Let the De-Light in at the OUT Hotel September 1st, 2015. In conjunction with the United Nations International Year of Light, Joseph Cavalieri, the founder of CAVAglass is making 25 site specific light boxes for the gallery space at the hotel that spans one city block between 42nd/41st streets.
Originally, stained glass was used as a recruitment tool in Medieval times, telling stories of the bible to illiterate people. Joseph Cavalieri’s art continues to use illuminated glass, but he updates the visuals with modern day stories, imaginary landscapes and contemporary figures. These range from portraits of Jackie O, Agnes Moorehead, Isaac Hayes, and Bill Pearl (Mr. Universe), to the Simpson’s.
Since 1997 Cavalieri has lived as full time artist, exhibiting internationally and teaching workshops around the world. Cavalieri’s “Madonna & Prada” was acquired for the permanent collection at the Museum of Arts and Design in 2013. Joseph’s MTA Arts for Transit public art commission can be viewed at the Philipse Manor Train Station, in Westchester, New York. More recently, Joseph was selected to exhibit at the first biennial at the Museum of Arts and Design and chosen to be the keynote speaker at the Glass Society of Ireland and NCAD in October 2015.
Cavalieri’s aim is to merge contemporary imagery with the time-honored processes of painted stained glass. This technique was originally created by Medieval stained glass artists, and uses enamel paints which are made of ground glass, metals and pigment. Most of Joseph’s work is set into wall hung stainless steel light boxes with internal LED lighting. Cavalieri is a New Yorker, currently based in the East Village of Manhattan.
