BRISK SALES CONTINUE AT CROWD FAVORITE MIAMI PROJECT Miami, FL, December 6, 2013 Miami is abuzz about Miami Project, the boutique art fair with contemporary and modern artwork side-by-side. Collectors, curators, and consultants alike are raving about the show’s extraordinary quality and immensely pleasant atmosphere. Its tight focus on a small selection of 60 well-established American galleries brought together in an open-plan tent with soaring, cathedral ceilings gives visitors the chance to see excellent work in a comfortable setting. Over 8,000 people had visited the fair as of early Friday morning, and that number is expected to triple before the fair closes. The positive energy was reflected in continually strong sales, with exhibitors describing the excellent quality of the visitors and brisk activity. Morgan Lehman Gallery placed a large Andrew Shoultz painting with an important corporate collection, a Nancy Lorenz painting with a Whitney trustee, and a David Rathman work with a trustee of the Walker Art Center. Catherine Clark Gallery placed a three-channel video work by Nina Katchadourian with a prominent LA client, and a Ligarano/Reese work to a Silicon Valley collector. Tibor de Nagy placed a large Nell Blane painting and Paul Kopeiken placed several photographs by Kai Schaeferand Graham Macindoe. Richard Heller Gallery placed large works by Dustin Yellen, Michelle Grabner, and Devon Troy Stauter. ZieherSmith placed two Allison Schulnik paintings. Patricia Sweetow Gallerysold two paintings by Heike Kati Barath and five works by Markus Linnenbrink. “By all measures, this is the best fair I’ve ever had,” said Ms. Sweetow. The Miami Project Holiday Popup Shop, featuring artist-made merchandise and multiples with sales benefitting nonprofits around the country, also reported strong sales. The shop has raised thousands of dollars for charity each day of the fair so far, by selling items priced affordably beginning at only $10. “My clients are telling everyone that this is their favorite fair,” said another exhibitor. “I’m hearing it all over.” In addition to the fairs’ excellent artwork, visitors also enjoyed delicious food prepared by local favoriteGastropod. Another local favorite, Panther Coffee, helped revive weary art-viewers. A pleasant outdoor terrace café and bar featured beverages by Perrier, Avión tequila, Nicolas Feuillatte champagne, Gravity Brewlab beer, New Amsterdam vodka, Rotation wines, and Shellback rum. Miami Project is presented with support from the Wall Street Journal, Luxe magazine, the Midtown Doral, and Porcelanosa. Jorge Peréz Adds Dana Louise Kirkpatrick Piece to His Collection 

 

December 4, 2013 – Real estate developer and art collector Jorge M. Peréz purchased a Dana Louise Kirkpatrick piece to add to his personal collection at Art Miami.

Recent opening of the Jorge M. Peréz Art Museum was made possible by Peréz, whose $40 million dollar investment in the rebuilding of what was formerly the Miami Art Museum earned him the naming rights.

The piece he bought by contemporary artist Dana Louise Kirkpatrick is called, ‘Bones at El Pescador,’ and was being shown at KM Fine Arts’ booth at Art Miami. The artist is known for distinctive archetypes characterized by a loose and graphic style reminiscent of street art in the 1980s. Her collection Unwashed and Somewhat Slightly Dazed is currently being shown at KM Fine Arts in Los Angeles.

MAYOR TOMÁS REGALADO WELCOMES MIAMI PROJECT,  FAIR OPENS WITH IMPRESSIVE SALES Left to Right: Miami Project Co-Founders Max Fishko and Jeffrey Wainhause, Miami Mayor Tomås Regalado, Michael Marguiles Miami, FL, December 4, 2013 Miami Project, the boutique art fair with contemporary and modern artwork side-by-side, opened last night with strong sales and large crowds. Mayor of Miami Tomás Regalado mingled with other VIPs as artworks were snapped up during the preview event. “Thank you for giving me the opportunity to attend such a wonderful event,” the Mayor said. During the preview, Quint Contemporary Art placed several works by Mel Bochner, as well as a large work by Peter Alexander Wedge with a major Los Angeles collector who sits on several boards in that city. Haines Gallery sold a work by Ai Wei Wei. “We also sold several works by Aime Mpane,” said Cheryl Haines, “and we are very gratified by the interest because it is our first time with him in Miami.”  Mark Moore Gallery placed a painting by Allison Schulnik, and a large selection of works by David Klamen. Pavel Zoubok Gallery sold work by Vanessa German, Raven Schlossberg, and Mark Wagner, and Joshua Liner Gallery sold 2 canvases by Geoff McFetridge. CB1 Gallery immediately placed 2 paintings by Craig Taylor when doors opened for the preview. “Our sales are up 300% over last year,” CB1 principal Clyde Beswick said, “with lots of additional interest in all four artists we are exhibiting.” Garth Greenan Gallery placed a large painting by Paul Feeley, and Magaret Thatcher Projects placed a sculpture by Venske & Spänle with a major American collection. “I saw a nice mix of consultants and big buyers at the preview,” Thatcher said. Jonathan Ferrara Gallery placed 4 pieces by Michael Pajon with a trustee of the Brooklyn Museum. David Shelton Gallery placed 2 new collage works by Kelly O’Connor. Eric Firestone Gallery placed 2 large photographs by Tseng Kwong Chi as well as a large painting by Bast. “We’re off to a great start,” said Max Fishko, cofounder of Miami Project. “It was great to see a line out the door for the preview. The exhibitors were confident and happy with the results.” “I love how spacious the fair feels,” said one visitor. “You can really see the work, and you don’t feel crowded or rushed.” Another mentioned that: “it’s really informative to see new art next to work that’s forty, fifty, sixty years old.
